Speaker & Mic Test — Audio Health Report & Cleaning

Getting Started

How do I run a full audio check?

Open the app and tap "Run Full Audio Check" on the dashboard. Follow the on-screen prompts — you'll hold the phone to your ear, listen for tones, and speak when asked. The whole sequence takes about 60 seconds and ends with your Audio Health Report.

What's an Audio Health Report?

A single screen with pass/fail verdicts for each tested component — Bottom Speaker, Top Speaker, Bottom Mic, Front Mic, and Stereo Balance — plus your device model, iOS version, and the audio route that was active during the test. Useful for Apple Support or your repair shop.

Can I run individual tests instead of the full check?

Yes. The dashboard has tiles for Speaker Test, Mic Test, Stereo Balance, Speaker Cleaning, Decibel Meter, and Frequency Lab. Each runs independently — useful when you want to verify a specific fix.

Speaker Cleaning

How does the water eject work?

The app plays a 165 Hz sine wave through your speaker for 60 seconds. The vibration physically pushes water droplets out of the grille. After the session, you'll be prompted to re-run the Speaker Test to verify the fix worked.

What about dust?

The Remove Dust mode runs a 100–500 Hz sweep for 30 seconds to dislodge trapped particles. For stubborn cases, Premium unlocks a Custom frequency mode with a manual slider.

My speaker still sounds muffled after cleaning. What now?

Repeat the session 2–3 times with the phone speaker-side down so water can fall out. If a Speaker Test still shows "Needs attention" after that, the speaker may be physically damaged — the app is a cleaning tool, not a repair service. Visit an Apple Store or authorized repair shop.

Mic, Speaker & Stereo Tests

How does the Mic Test isolate which mic is failing?

iPhones have multiple microphones (bottom, front, rear). The test sequence asks you to speak into each one in turn while the others are masked, so you can see a per-mic pass/fail verdict instead of a single "your mic works / doesn't work" answer.

What does "Stereo Balance" actually test?

It plays an alternating left/right tone and confirms both your bottom and top speakers respond at the same level. A failure here usually means one speaker is dirty, blocked, or damaged.

Can I test AirPods or Bluetooth headphones?

Yes, with Premium. Connect your AirPods or Bluetooth speaker, then open Speaker Test or Mic Test — the app detects the active audio route and runs the tests through the connected device. Wired headphones are supported the same way.

Why does the Audio Health Report say "Needs attention" instead of Pass or Fail?

"Needs attention" is the middle tier — the component responded, but at a degraded level. Common causes: dirt in the grille, a worn speaker membrane, or you covered the mic during the test. Re-run the test after cleaning, or with the phone in a different position, to confirm.

Free vs Premium

What's free vs Premium?

Free: 3 audio tests per day, 1 cleaning session per day capped at 30 seconds, last 5 reports kept in history, always-free Decibel Meter and Frequency Lab demo, with banner and interstitial ads. Premium: Unlimited daily tests and cleaning, full Frequency Lab (up to 25 kHz with waveform selector), AirPods / Bluetooth / wired headphone testing, unlimited report history, PDF export, and zero ads.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — the Premium Annual plan ($9.99/year) includes a 7-day free trial. You'll only be charged at the end of the trial. Cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings inside the App and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you've previously purchased one on this Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Speaker & Mic Test and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Privacy

Where does my mic input go?

Nowhere. Mic audio is processed in real time during a test and is not retained or transmitted. The app does not upload anything to any server — you can confirm by toggling Airplane Mode, and every test still works. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

What permissions does the app need?

Microphone (only while a test is running), Notifications (optional, for quarterly health-check reminders), and Bluetooth (optional, Premium — only to test the currently connected peripheral).
